Television - Foxhole
Soldier boy stands at a full salute. He wants your orders to execute. Send him out - 'neath the screaming red lights In a narrow ditch for the funny fights. Foxhole, foxhole too much danger Where's my guardian angel - oh no You show me the war, I don't know what for. You show me the war but the war 's such a bore. In the line of duty, in the line of fire A heartless heart is my proper attire. The flashing sword has been explored The perfect slice - perfect slice of life. I feel the shells hit - Moonlight web Goodbye arms, so long, head. No more danger Hello guardian angel. Pin me down, go ahead it's a cinch You pin me down, you'll feel the pinch I was trained for fights Foxhole, foxhole Foxhole, foxhole.

Great track. Good album as well. Still think Marquee Moon was a fantastic album.
ReplyDeleteGod, this guitar in the beginning is amazing!
ReplyDeleteMe too 12" red nothing to play it on, so glad I found this. Slagged off by my, old school rock mates at the time though, Philistine's !!! anything other than Sabbath Zep etc was punk shit.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, this song has always reminded me of "You're in the army now", haha. A rather weak track, imo. . i'm being a bit of an heretic now, I f***ing WORSHIP this band. The rest of the album is pure gold, sometimes I prefer this to Marquee Moon, it depends on my mood...
ReplyDeletehey .... I have the limited edition red vinyl 12" too !!
ReplyDeleteI have it too with the yellow cover !! Back when music was good :)
ReplyDeleteSongs this catchy shouldn't be allowed.

ReplyDeletestill have the limited edition red vinyl that I bought in Aberdeen, Scotland in '77 (?)

ReplyDeleteThis song is fuckin' awesome, more ppl should know this band, it's great.
ReplyDeleteUseful upload. thanks
ReplyDeleteOne thing i can always agree with: Almost no one from todays modern society can live without watching television.
ReplyDeleteSimply put you are an idiot. Plus you are using same media to spread your message.
ReplyDelete@DefendYourRights1 You are a living example that not just TV makes you lavishly stupid. It's also "Satan's money" that keeps your local propaganda churches in business as well. It's You've obviously sold your soul and intelligence to the mental illness known as Religion.
ReplyDeleteForget it. Privacy is finished. 99.9999% of people will not install track plus and start page is only a fraction as good as google. The web encourages nothing except addiction. It's a distraction just like everything else. Technology, whatever it is, is only an improved means towards an unimproved end. (Thoreau)
ReplyDeletenot if you take precautions to help with your anonymity. like installing do not track plus and no script an using pages like start page. at least the web encourages critical thinking and has all the info...not just a distorted "one eyed" view
ReplyDeleteyeah...you can only imagine what sort of drone would dislike this. one eye on the tv one on the computer. end up looking all fucked up like
ReplyDelete@Greyswyndir A man who believes in Demons and Angels and that we were suddenly spewed from a magic man in the sky is attempting to lecture on propaganda and mind control. You're no worse than these materialized superstitious tweens. You trust what you see in a 5000 year old book.
ReplyDeleteI'm not saying a disagree with you either but you shouldn't be talking the most insidious creation is Religion.
this is why my gf acts like Kim Kardashian
ReplyDeleteThis species is amusing itself to death.
ReplyDeleteIt is "subcortical" (as in cortex) fight-or-flight areas, not "subcordical.
ReplyDeleteIf you want your video to appear credible, please, at least spell things correctly.

ReplyDeleteI used to watch Television, then I took an arrow to the knee.
ReplyDeleteMy argument is not between various technologies but against technology as a whole. But to take that stance in today's world is tantamount to heresy, People will get mighty angry and rationalise justify it. People may switch off the TV saying 'Big Brother is not getting inside MY head' but when you go on the internet you're now inside Big Brother's head! Don't you see the problem? Everything you do on the internet can be tracked and traced.
ReplyDeleteThis almost reads like I posted it myself. I remember reading his book in 1984 and scaring some 11 year old kid next to me at the library, who worried aloud, "is somebody going to eliminate television?" It's amazing he knew what "eliminate" means, but nevertheless...
ReplyDeleteI'm just worried about addiction to devices. If I use Internet sources that are not ad supported, then I doubt the Web is as bad as TV. Reading my mail is hardly the same as watching four straight hours of programming and commercials. Also many apps on the Internet are truly interactive, which TV never could be. But don't worry about my exposure to French intellectuals: I still have Situationists texts to comb through.
ReplyDeleteAll those who're so proud they don't watch TV have simply switched gears and moved to the internet. Technology doesn't disappear, it just gets replaced with another. Read 'The Technological Society' by Jacques Ellul.
ReplyDeleteindeed, i agree the net is worse.......a sea of bullshit, but like tv......you do find a few truly beautiful things if you swim through it
ReplyDeleteI believe television was and is the most insidious device ever invented. It has elevated the art of propaganda to heights never thought possible. It is the most successful mass mind control device ever devised and can be found in almost every home in the industrialized world. People trust what they see and hear on the television. Television "programming" isn't what you thought it was, they aren't programming shows they are programming you!
ReplyDeletenot of any use.......
ReplyDeletealright so watching TV gets me pumped then i go outside and do Shit sounds like a win win to me
ReplyDeleteBut isn't using the computer (for me it's mostly just the internet) just as brainwashing as watching the TV ?
ReplyDeletePorn , violence, deception, perversion .... this is what awaits when you switch on TV.
ReplyDeleteBan TV from your life entirely and you will slowly feel a cleansing of yourself after 6 mos.
TV harms everyone !
"we should spent time with our lover, not tv or newspaper... anyone got that?"
ReplyDelete@SkulLzSouL
How about a compromise...say a rolled up newspaper? :-)
