LCD display problem examples

If a loose ribbon cable can produce a rainbow effect of vertical lines then so can a bad solder connection on the T-con board connector. Pinpointing an exact cause and effect can be difficult. This video is designed to give people a general idea as to what's wrong with your LCD TV but don't assume your results will be the same. Hopefully others will add their repair histories in the comment section of this video.

The TV would turn on for a second and then shut right back down. I found this one on craigslist for , did a little research, and found that it had a very common problem with a pretty easy fix. From what i gathered in the forums this is a pretty popular TV. I know my wife and I had thought about buying one a couple years back because the price was so cheap. i have LG lcd monitor and have problem like picture in video in 1:17??!
ReplyDeleteMy Daewoo LCD tv recently started to switch itself off.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I turnit back on, the screen would appear then 3-4 seconds later, it would switch itself off. Most of the time I cannpt get the TV on.
I have tried a new ac adapter but still no luck.
my LG 32LD450 has horizontal lines that flash every couple of sec(3 seconds). what is causing the problem?

ReplyDeleteMy LCD TV has become very bright. I can take the brightness all the way to 0 and it is manageable to see. But still looks washed out or the way something looks when it sunfaded.

Sir i have Sony KDL-46EX600 TV and it giving me five blinking red light...and i check power supply by switching 3V on CN6150 and i check all 12v it giving me on power supply look ok can u pleas tell me is that Main board ( "A" board) problem or TCON board problem please help me ASAP thanks

ReplyDeletei have jvc LT 42DG1 just after waranty finished now just multycolour line all over ther screen, sound i can hear normal , i cannot see menu when i press menu button. i open and look i don see any bad capacitor, is that mean the tcons board need replacing or i dont know!!!

ReplyDeleteI have a Sony Trinitron 35" Wega, purchased in 2005 . It plays but keeps blacking out the picture, ( sound still works) The red LED Light blinks 4 times. sometimes 5 times. Sounds like I have no vertical sweep. I could buy a 40" TV for $250. Should I fix this Sony or Buy a new TV ? Thanks, Harry

ReplyDeleteI have a Toshiba 32av502r that has many thin horizontal lines close together.
ReplyDeletei have a 46" polaroid that was given to me so i dont really want to put much money into it. There are horizontal lines through it and the right edge of the it is distorted and some times will have purple lines or letters depending of course what on the the tv. If you play a dvd on it through our normal player with RCA cables the right half of the screen is so dark you can hardly make out the picture. Is better through the hdmi port but still dark on the right half and the right edge is blurry???
ReplyDeleteHi Dave, I have what looks like picture D on a Samsung LE40D550 model. It 'was' a solid white vertical bar 3/4 across from the left but has since dimmed. It is now translucent. Every source is affected, it never changes its position. Concerned its a display fault. TV is 20 months old. Thanks :)

ReplyDeletei think it takes 5-10 minutes, yeah i just leave it on until the picture comes then when i am done watching i just turn it off and yes it is left plugged in.

ReplyDeleteOne of my friends in the TV repair business longer than myself mentioned that a T-con board will rarely repair cure the problem of vertical lines as seen in picture E. I have seen
ReplyDeletea poorly seated ribbon cable cause this problem I suggest you try freeze spraying the edges of your display to see if the condition improves. If it does this indicates the display is bad.
ok I have a emerson model LC320EM1F no power what so ever.would that be the inverterboard ?
ReplyDeleteI am so disgusted with emerson. I have only had my Emerson 32" tv for about 4 months and I am having the same problem. Walmart won't take it back.Emerson is stating I should have read the manual and that they only cover the parts and not the repair. They want me to pay $80 dollars. Even Walmart doesnt know what they are talking about.

I have a 26in LCD Sanyo tv that i was using for my pc & one night we had a storm & something popped on the inside but u can plug it in & turn on comes on for 15sec then goes black flickering mode, do u have n e clue if this can be fixed.

ReplyDeleteJust bought a 32" Magnavox tv/DVD combo from Kmart for $299.00. I thought the price was great. Got a extended 2 year warranty for $30.00. I hope I have good luck with it. So far it's a great set for the money. Have you repaired many magnavox's before?

ReplyDeleteMy model was a little different than yours once the back was off but the directions were still easy enough for us to replace and now it works great! The eBay link needs to be updated though because that one said they only repair your old one. It was easy enough to find someone else that would sell one though.

Thank You very much for the video, my aunt gave me this model when it went out and she was going to trash it so I said I would store it until I could get around to trying to figure it out. Received my inverter in the mail today, purchased from sears, paid a little more ($115.00) but I could not have purchased a tv for that price. It works great hooked it up in bedroom tonight and am loving it. Thanks Again.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the video and idea. Had the same problem with my Sylvania 32" LCD/DVD combo. Capacitors look good. Ordered the inverter board. Replaced it and it's now working.
