How to fix a Samsung LCD (Electrolytic Capacitor) - LCD Television

How to fix a Samsung LCD (Electrolytic Capacitor)

More stuff here: domoarigatomissesmicherro.tumblr.com My 26" Samsung LCD stopped turning on. I did some research and found out that an electrolytic capacitor was blown. This piece can be purchased at some Radioshacks, various places on the internet, and even local tech stores. Their cost is around .40 each. and are fairly simple to replace. I take no responsibility for damage to any TV as a result of attempting anything from this video. I am not a professional, and in fact, this was my first time make any type of instructional video. I hope it helps someone out there, I was pretty ecstatic to learn that I didn't have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new TV!

  2. Thank you for your enquiry. As we are not installers ourselves, we won't be 100% sure about the dimension of your dash. We do have an universal unit
that will fit into most cars with a double DIN dash (car's existing radio is 10cm in height). The outer dimension for this unit is: 190(D)x179(W)x100(H)mm.As long as you are able to have the unit fit into the dash of your car, there should be no problem for it to be working.

  5. Hi there,

Thank you for your enquiry. We do have another unit that will fit Toyota Camry, but just to be 100% sure, we would still heavily recommend that you double check the dimensions of the unit against the size of your dash. A diagram of dimensions can be seen here:

  23. Ok, I have questions:
    1) Does it hold true that every lcd tv that doesn't turn on, but has the orange light, has a blown capacitor?
    2) Can it be more than 1 blown capacitor?
    3) Besides the dents (I find it very subtle) , how can you tell a capacitor is blown?

  28. yes its okay to use a 35v instead of a 25v the numbers mean thats the max voltage it can handle :P

    ReplyDelete
  29. yeah i agree but it worked for her. i did mine on my tv that had this issue. but mine looked just like the factory done my soldering but i been soldering for years. :P

  30. is it okay to use a 1000 uf 35v capacitor, its thicker than the 25 v, but its the only one at the local store

I talked to a electrical engineer about this very problem on Samsung TVs. Apparently the capacitors are only rated at 10 volts but 12 volts go thru them. Something that Smasung should should take care of since it was a known problem. Be prepared to replace all of the other capacitors you just showed us as they are all under rated for 10 volts also. I will never own another Samsung product. It will be LG or Sony. Samsung also used cheap color wheels in their DLP TVs which fail and wear out also

  32. Now that is hot! hehehehe :-) I fix things too :)

  36. See my message below for advice on how to solder. And well done for taking the initiative and fixing the TV yourself. I'm impressed.

  37. MOTHER OF GOD. ;D

  38. Joking aside, that is not how to solder, and those joints aren't good. Hold the iron tip against the component leg, trying to touch both leg and copper pad on PCB. Then feed solder into junction where tip and component lead/pad meet. Let it flow on to the pad and leg, then remove the iron tip. Don't hold the iron there too long or you'll burn all the flux away and have a messy dry joint. Never ever melt solder on the iron tip, then try to transfer from iron tip on to component leg and pad.

  39. Dear God, a girl doing electronics repair. What next! And she didn't break it...it's a miracle! Never thought I'd see anything like this. A girl doing electronics, that's so weird.

  40. It is not much dificult to do that. It is nice to see a woman try this. Very good job "Queen of Technology".

  41. The modle of the tv set does not matter. You identify the capacitor that you have to replace and on the body of that capacitor you find the capacitance and the voltage. For example: 1000uF/16V. With these values you have to brought one capacitor for replace. The capacitance must be the same, but the voltage can be up 16V but never down. Sorry about my english, I hope you understand.
